About Us

The Floyd County Historical Society, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization. Our mission is to preserve Floyd County history, serve as custodian of historical gifts, and provide educational outreach. The Floyd County Historical Society promotes interest in the history of Floyd County through sharing and interpreting a collection of significant historic materials.

Our museum provides a tangible focus for seeing and learning about Floyd County’s Heritage. The society plans both permanent and special exhibits which will change periodically.

The museum is located on North Locust Street–the 1913 historic, former hospital “The Ridgemont,” (Marie Williams house)–is open Friday and Saturday, 12pm-4pm.

We have historical exhibits for all ages, handicapped access, and special tours available. Our gift shop features books, post cards, historical prints and calendars.

Admission is free, and donations are encouraged.
